Last January Erin and Kaffe were able to spend a week together at his London studio. Kaffe was always “at it” before Erin, but one morning he just had too much else to do. Before Erin got started, Kaffe set up a challenging still life. There was a background of four patterned fabrics and a group of his most colorful ceramics.

Erin got to work and spent most of the day rendering the challenging arrangement. By the end of the day, she had painted Kaffe’s favorite piece from their week together, and the painting that now graces the back cover of the book. Color Duets records more than ten years of painting together for Kaffe and Erin. We are looking forward to next May when the show should open at the Monterey Museum of Art, and once again, they can come together to paint. This time in their Big Sur, California Retreat.
